The Minister of Energy Mrs. Temenuzhka Petkova symbolically started the new boiler at the Regional Heating Plant of Meden Rudnik.
“We witness the launch of a new project of the Ministry of Energy, the Municipality of Burgas and our partners from Norway. This project is very important mainly because it will allow us to save substantial amounts of money that would otherwise be spent on energy recourses and will also contribute to the increase of the measures aimed at protecting the environment” said Minister Temenizhka Petkova.
The Deputy Minister of Energy and director of the BG04 Programme Zhecho Stankov focused on the positive aspects of the new system, saying: “This boiler is of the latest generation of boilers. The old boilers we have been using so far were inefficient and caused significant energy loss. Unlike the old boilers, the new one will allow the municipality to provide heating to these two schools and the kindergarten at much lower costs owing to the lower price of the pellets and its efficiency. This will save resources that will be later reinvested into these educational facilities. The pessimistic prognosis is for a 30% reduction in the heating resources and the optimistic one – for more than 40%.
Today’s event held in Meden Rudnik residential area was also attended by Ruska Boyadzhieva – deputy mayor for European Policies and Environment and the team working on the project.
After the official opening, a plan for the optimization of the work of the heating plant will be made by the partners from the Technical University – Sofia – Technologies Ltd.
